About

As a fantasy lover, Aurora fell in love with writing while reading multiple different book series in middle school. She has been practicing her skills in writing ever since. Her current project, "The Light We Guard", is a modern fantasy novel that shows the constant battle between light and dark...and just how blurry the line between them can be sometimes. It mixes magic, modern-day action, and relationship dynamics between characters that are sure to tug on readers' heartstrings.
Aurora started this novel back in 2019. It took a long time to complete the first draft, but now her book is far into the editing stage, with the goal to publish in Spring 2026.
When she's not writing, you can find Aurora cozied-up on the couch in her apartment with her fiance Brendan and their orange and white cat, Dewey.
Be sure to keep an eye out for updates on the book release as they come!

The Light We Guard
COMING SPRING 2026!!!Alyssa Haller is the niece of police officer Will Haller. She lives in an apartment with her brother, Ryan, away from their alcoholic uncle.
Daniel Reeves’s father, Jacob, is the leader of the criminal organization known as the Riot.
When Daniel was ten years old, his mother led him through a door to a magical pocket world hidden away from ours. Within this world was a forest, and a cabin up ahead. In the basement of this cabin, there is another door. This one is rotting and spilling with dark magic. Behind this door is a dark force of unimaginable power. About fifteen years later, Daniel is now in charge of guarding this cabin, following in the footsteps of his now deceased mother.
One day, Alyssa finds herself stumbling upon the door that leads to the cabin. She finds Daniel, and his best friend, Kyle, who have both been looking for her. Alyssa is the next Guardian, destined to partner with Daniel in protecting the cabin.
Along with battling the dark forces of the figure behind the door in the basement, Alyssa and Daniel have many other challenges. The worst of them is the Riot. Daniel must face his own father as Jacob allies himself with dangerous forces. Will Daniel and Alyssa defeat these dark threats? Or will the ties their families have to this magic conflict with their victory?

This page is to give thanks to the amazing people who have helped me bring my work into the world.Thank you, so incredibly much. I would not be where I am today without each and every one of you.
Brendan King

My amazing fiancé, my biggest supporter. Brendan has inspired many ideas for my works, sharing his input on each chapter. I love workshopping my ideas with him. Finding inspiration with the man you love is truly a beautiful thing. He's cheered me on through thick and thin and has been with me every step of the way through my current draft. I love you, baby.
Alex Suggs

I met Alex on TikTok when he posted asking for beta-readers. Since then, he has become one of the greatest friends I've ever had. He has given such positive and uplifting feedback on my draft and shown incredible support and love for the world I've created. His own work on his draft, MoonPhase is absolutely phenomenal, I'd easily recommend it to anyone.
Miles Ross

Miles is an incredibly talented artist and writer. I've had the pleasure of working with him on a number of different projects. he is currently working on the cover art for "The Light We Guard" and the others in its series. I cannot wait for you all to see my friend's artistic genius on the cover of my very first novel.
Mae Gaynor

Mae is the founder of Taking Root Editorial. Alex recommended them to me when I was looking for editors, and they have been so very amazing to work with! Their edits and notes are always so helpful and have really made my draft shine. They've always been so patient and respectful with me when I needed time to send over my work. I cannot wait for you all to see the work we've accomplished together when this book finally releases!
Aly Gilmore

Aly runs the Writing Center at Georgia Highlands College. When I first finished writing my draft, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to editing. Aly stepped in and helped me look through every single chapter. She taught me a few things to look for, and after a while I started catching the mistakes at the same time that she did. She is always encouraging my steps forward, showing me grant opportunities and publications. She is the reason I went to Mae when I did. "The Light We Guard" truly would not be where it is without her.
